The Circle of Life...Choosing Conservation

The Beach Bunnies and the Dizzy Blonde all feel strongly about giving back to our communities through conservation.  And towards that end we are both donating a portion of our proceeds to this year's chosen non-profit, Delilah's 2nd Chance Rescue.  But we want to do more.  So, this year, we are trying to raise more funds by selling event T-shirts.  100% of the proceeds will be donated to Delilah's 2nd chance.

The t-shirts are 4.2 oz, 52% airlume combed and ringspun cotton/48% polyester.  They are pre-shrunk, lightweight and oh-so-very soft.  The shirts are relaxed fit (unisex) and feature tapered shoulders, a comfortable crew neck with a tear-away tag, side seams and short sleeves.  In staying with the theme of this year's gathering, Disney's Lion King, we chose a heathered brick shirt with a Stitch the Magic emblem done in goldenrod screen printing.

Arrive at the event and/or park excursion in style!

T-shirts will only be available through pre-order here.

In order to have the shirts produced and then shipped in time for you to wear to the event, the last day to order will be December 28, 2023.  So don't miss out.  Order your shirt today!

Hela hey mamela

My favorite song in the entire movie "He Lives In You" scores Simba's transformation moment from carefree  youth, to regal adulthood: when Simba comes to terms with and then relinquishes his heavy burden of guilt and regret, he accepts his responsibility, his birthright, and his freedom.  Such anguish...such joy!  When first I saw it, it took my breath away...so serious and somber one moment, and then light-hearted and playful the next.

Our final piece of the 2024 Stitch The Magic Collection comes from Ann of Twin Mommy Creations out of Winter Haven FL.

"Remember Who You Are" is beautiful set of 5 adorable stitch markers and a pin/marker holder.  Each stitch marker is laser engraved on 1/8" maple ply and then attached with round lever-back fasteners so they can be used as knitting stitch markers, row markers or crochet markers.  They depict whimsical mandrills, hyenas, wart hogs, merekats and lions. The pin is also laser engraved on 1/8 maple ply and painted with alcohol ink for a lovely sunset effect.

The back of the pin features a pin tack back and rubber stopper.  This set is extremely lightweight, and can be worn on your person as you stitch in your favorite Disney park, or attached to your project bag so you are never without it.  Wherever you choose to attach it, this set is sure to turn some heads!

Presales will be opening very soon, and remember, there are incentives to purchasing the entire collection, which will be revealed in our next post, along with a link to the pre-order site.

Registration is now open at the Beach Bunny Yarns websiteSpace is limited, however, so make sure you register early, and save the date.

Wimoweh Uyimbube

What Stitch The Magic collection would be complete without a truly amazing project bag?  This year we have teamed up with Amanda aka ybSquare in Tampa, FL, and just wait until you see what she has in store for you!

This is a great bag for on-the-go fiber arts!  Whether your chosen fiber arts expression is knitting, crocheting, weaving, drop-spindling, or any form of embroidery, this bag is the perfect size for everyone!  The measurements for this bag are 3 3/4 x 6 1/2 boxed bottom; 11 1/2 inches tall and 20 3/4" around.  Measurements may vary up to 1/4".

Safari Project Bag

From the artist:

"For this fun collection inspired by The Lion King, I went with first impressions.  When I first think of the movie, I think safari and then oasis.  I found both of these awesome prints on Spoonflower.  The first is a cool tribal pattern with safari animal silhouettes and the colors were perfect for what I was looking for.  The second represents the oasis that Simba spent his youth in and where Nala found him.  This print is full of lush vegetation and the silhouettes f young lions or lionesses jumping throughout.  Since these bags are complete reversible, you can pick which wild side to show each day."

"A little bit more about the bags:  as these are handmade, the fabric placement will vary, for the oasis side, this will be less noticeable, however, for the safari side the animals will not be in the same place on every bag.  Each bag has a cotton webbing handle for wrist wearing, a carabiner for clipping to most anything and a cord lock on the drawstring.  It is also machine washable, just remove the carabiner and wash on delicate."           ~~Amanda

Yes you read that right...IT IS COMPLETELY REVERSIBLE!

Pre-sales will open once the entire collection has been revealed...which is to say, very soon!  And remember, there are bonus incentives for getting the entire collection!

Hakuna Matata - A Lion's Tale

Our second colorway comes from the dye pots of Dizzy Blonde Studios in Port St. Lucie, FL., and not one to be missed!

"In keeping with the 'Lion Character' theme, we chose to tell the story of Simba's journey from outcast to king, and my favorite part of the movie.   Hakuna Matata means 'there are no worries' in Swahili, and this colorway effortlessly captures the environment where Simba lived his carefree days growing up under the watchful eyes of his surrogate father-pals, Timon & Pumbaa.  Lush forest and deep olive of the jungle are the main colors with a pop of grasshopper for those 'slimy yet satisfying' moments.  Nothing speaks volumes of Simba's transformation than when he chases Rafiki out of the jungle only to be confronted by his own reflection; where he faces his past, his regret, fear and guilt, and then suddenly, like so many leaves in the wind, get swept away and a new king emerges."

~~Laura

The base is the same as Beach Bunny Yarns': 80% SW Merino/20% Silk, 4oz/115gm - 434yd/397m.  We purposely dyed our colorways on the same base, and coordinated them so that you can put them together in a 2-color project. In a later post we will be publishing pattern recommendations, so if you haven't done so yet, hit that "subscribe" button so you don't miss out on any of the Magic!

Pre-sales will open once the entire collection has been revealed, and there will be a bonus item for those who order the entire collection, but we'll cover that in another post.

Mufasa - A Celebration in Yarn

Our first colorway in this year's collection is from Beach Bunny Yarns in Ormond Beach, FL.  It is 80/20 SW Merino/Silk, 4 oz/115 gm-434 yds/397 m of soft, lustrous luxury.  It is wonderful to crochet and knit, super-soft and luxuriously lightweight, while retaining it's amazing stitch definition.

And who better to capture on strands of string than the mighty King of Pride Rock:  Mufasa.  But don't just take our word for it...From the Artist, Ron Roberts:

"With the theme of 'The Lion King', it seemed only natural to choose to create a colorway based on the lion characters.  What character stood out the most to me was Mufasa.  The word mufasa means 'king or leader' in Swahili, and I wanted to express the majestic, grand emotion I felt when I first heard James Earl Jones' voice.  I also wanted to highlight the natural camouflage that exists between a lion and the colors of the savanna.  The golden grasses, reddish earth and dust, and the rocks all emulate the lions' colors and patterns.  The question remained: how to create a yarn worthy of the name?  Using a traditional layered approach yielded a result closer to mud than a lion's mane.  Each color needed to stand out and still blend smoothly with the next.  After a couple more less-than-stunning tries, I ended up using multiple layering techniques to achieve the final effect.

Knitted or crocheted, this colorway produces variegated golds, browns, and yellows with short bursts of deep mahogany red.  These colors are very reminiscent of not only the movie character, but are also used in many examples of African art.  The yarn is bold, rich and warm...even regal."

Pre-sales will open once the entire collection has been revealed, and there will be a bonus item for those who order the entire collection, but we'll cover that in another post.  Don't let this beauty pass you by!
